Kama’aina Termite & Pest Control is a Hawaii owned and operated company with years of experience tenting homes and commercial structures in Hawaii. We understand the nature of termite activity here in the islands, and are equipped to meet the needs of both residential and commercial property owners. In this tropical paradise, termites and other pests thrive. It is our mission to protect your hard earned investment in home ownership from these voracious pests.
Due to our warm and humid climate, Hawaii is highly susceptible to Drywood termite activity. When you see termite droppings (fecal pellets), you know your problems have begun with Drywood termites. Tent Fumigation is the only process that has been proven to be 100% effective for the eradication of Drywood termites when performed properly. The tent fumigation process involves securely enclosing the home in special tarps, and then injecting Vikane gas into the structure. Vikane is a colorless, odorless, non-sustaining, non-corrosive and non-flammable gas. This fumigant penetrates deep into wood to eliminate Dry wood termites. When the tents are removed, Vikane dissipates into the atmosphere and does not deplete the ozone.
The Fumigation Process
The fumigation process consists of enclosing the structure with special tarps. Secondary locks will then be used to secure your home. Only Kama’aina Termite Supervisors have keys to these locking devices. Circulation fans and introduction gas lines are placed throughout your home. Before the tarps are completely sealed, a warning agent called Chloropicrin is placed inside the structure. In the event that a pet or someone may still be in the home, they would quickly find their way of escape, as it is not tolerable. The tarps are then completely sealed and the application of the gas fumigant Vikane begins.
Once it has been determined that effective treatment has been achieved, the tarps will be removed from the structure. Neither Vikane or Chloropicrin leave any residual traces behind as these chemicals will completely dissipate.
