Bed Bug Treatment Preparation
Pre and Post Treatment Guidelines
(NOTE: Please complete these guidelines prior to the arrival of our technician or bedbug treatment will need to be rescheduled. Contact our office if you have any questions.)
INSPECT & IDENTIFY
Inspection and proper identification of bedbugs must be done prior to any application of insecticide treatment. Identification of your insect can be brought to our office at 940 Queen Street or you may take specimen to the Department of Agriculture or the University of Hawaii- Entomology Dept.
REMOVE ALL LINEN FROM BEDS AND/OR INFECTED AREAS
All that apply; sheets, comforters, pillow cases, bed skirts, etc. Be sure not to drag infected items throughout the house as you will spread infestation to other areas. Please be sure to remove any clutter that may interfere with the technician’s treatment.
REMOVE ALL ITEMS FROM DRESSER DRAWERS (IF APPLICABLE)
Drawers will be pulled out to be sprayed. Please be sure to wait until it is completely dry before placing any items back into the drawers.
ALL LINEN ITEMS SHOULD BE WASHED AND DRIED IN HIGH HEAT.
Wash and dry items with temperature above 98 degrees F.
VACUUM ALL INFECTED AREAS
Mattresses, box springs, bedframes, bedposts, sofa beds, etc. cracks, crevices and voids, carpet areas, in and under furniture. This is very important. To vacuum will not only dislodge and remove eggs but will remove of any live adults and help stop the life cycle. VACUUMING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT. Dispose of vacuum cleaner bag when completed or wash out container with hot water. Continue to vacuum thoroughly, even after treatments are done.
DO NOT MOVE BEDS I MATTRESSES FROM AREAS THAT ARE ALREADY INFECTED.
PERSONAL ITEMS WILL NOT BE TREATED
Clothing items, shoes, purses, accessories, etc. You may bag your items and wash thoroughly or steam clean, if possible. Or remove items from interior areas all together.
ALL OCCUPANTS MUST VACATE UNIT/AREA
During treatment, occupants & pets must vacate the unit for at least 4 hours or until insecticide is dry. When returning to area, aerate until tolerable.
BED BUG TREATMENTS REQUIRE A MINIMUM OF 2 TREATMENTS.
A follow up treatment shall be scheduled 7 to 14 days after initial treatment. Depending on the activity level of bedbugs, additional treatments may be required at an additional cost. You will continue to see bedbugs crawling as they are being affected by our insecticide.
BED BUG TREATMENTS RENDER NO WARRANTY
As bedbugs can be carried in through any newly introduced item to the area or carried in from people themselves immediately after treatment. Our trained professionals will also from case to case, give recommendations or let you know if certain items should be discarded due to the fact of heavy infestations. Please be aware that we are not responsible for discarding any items on behalf of the customer or should the customer discard items themselves.
